Cayman’s artistic gymnastics stars Justin Spencer and Sienna Santiago showcased their all-around excellence at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in the Glasgow International Arena on Friday, 24 July and Saturday, 25 July.
Stepping up first of Friday, the 18-year-old Spencer secured strong scores across his six apparatus in qualifying including an 11.450 on both the floor exercise and parallel bars.
Put together, his final tally in all-around qualification – which also included 10.800 on vault, 10.700 on pommel horse and 10.350 on rings and horizontal bars – amounted to a lifetime best 65.100, placing Spencer 24th overall on his debut at the Commonwealth Games as he narrowly missed out in a spot in the final as the second reserve.
The following day, fellow debutant Santiago – who turned 16 just last month – took comfortably in her stride the daunting task of competing in the first qualifying group of the day, piecing together a lifetime all-around score of her own.
Santiago’s 41.500 across the four apparatus in the women’s competition included scores of 11.250 on both the vault and floor, the latter being the second-highest mark in that discipline of any gymnast in her rotation.
She would go on to finish 29th in the overall all-around standings – out of 38 competitors – scoring 9.100 on the uneven bars and 9.900 on the balance beam.
