From treasure hunters and philanthropists to guitar pickers and astronomers, the Cayman Islands lost a myriad of talents and trailblazers in 2018.

He was always very approachable and seemed to go out of his way for all of those he met. Quite a character, at a time when Cayman had more than its fair share of those.

If I may, let me exert my publisher’s privilege by offering a rare signed editorial in this space, paying what is certainly an inadequate tribute to Brian Uzzell, the longtime owner of this newspaper and, more importantly, a dear friend to me and my wife Vicki.
