A coroner’s inquiry is taking place into the “unexplained” death of a Cayman Islands woman following surgery earlier this month. Lisa Turner was discharged from Chrissie Tomlinson Hospital after surgery but developed an illness and died several days later after being taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital.

Calling a recent auditor general’s report an “indictment” of the entire local healthcare system, a Chrissie Tomlinson Hospital surgeon Wednesday blamed the Cayman Islands Ministry of Health for a series of “incompetent” failures, including the refusal to listen to local doctors on a number of issues.
