OfReg has launched an investigation into a suspected illegal fuel storage site following a fire that erupted as a car was being filled with fuel at a private home in Mangrove Avenue in Prospect on Wednesday night, 7 Sept.

The Utility Regulation and Competition Office, known as OfReg, announced on Tuesday that it has appointed Duke Munroe and Gregg Anderson to serve as “Acting CEOs on a rotational basis” until a new CEO is appointed permanently.

The safety of having Grand Cayman’s fuel storage depot in the midst of a heavily populated residential area has come under new scrutiny  in the wake of Sunday’s fire in a diesel tank that prompted a mass evacuation of neighboring properties.
