Edward Hendricks Hyde was on the verge of giving up hope. He had not eaten for weeks and he could count the ribs poking through his emaciated body. His skin was flayed from drifting in the open ocean under a scorching Caribbean sun, and he figured he could smell it burning. “It was a miracle,” said his mother, Ezona Moore.
Second boater feared lost at sea
Detectives have confirmed that Chadwick Bodden, the second Cayman Islands boater missing since mid-June, is feared lost at sea. The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service also confirmed the widely reported news that Mr. Bodden’s boat mate was found alive last week off the coast of Mexico.

After five weeks adrift at sea, Cayman Islands boater Edward Hendricks Hyde has been found alive off the coast of Mexico. There was no official confirmation of the status of his fellow boater Chadwick Bodden, who was with him when they left Cayman on a 30-foot canoe-style boat on June 23.
