Gerald Jaleel Bush and Rico Roy Walton were both sentenced to 10 years in prison on Tuesday after being found guilty on three charges of possession of unlicensed firearms in August.

A jury of five women and two men returned unanimous guilty verdicts on Tuesday in the trial of Gerald Jaleel Bush, 21, and Rico Roy Walton, 29, on three charges alleging possession of unlicensed firearms.

Justice Francis Belle was expected to address the jury on Monday morning in the trial of two men who have pleaded not guilty to possession of unlicensed firearms.

The second of two defendants charged with possession of unlicensed firearms told the court on Wednesday he denied putting guns under the “flip-flop” or “shoe” tree in South Sound, where two handguns were found shortly after midnight on June 25, 2017.

Gerald Jaleel Bush, on trial with Rico Roy Walton for possession of unlicensed firearms, continued giving evidence on Tuesday about events on the night of June 24-25, 2017, when the alleged offense took place.

Two men seen aboard a boat in South Sound last year have denied any knowledge of two handguns found in the roots of what is known as the “shoe tree” or “flip-flop tree along the South Sound shore.

Trial began in Grand Court this week for two men charged with possession of firearms. Gerald Jaleel Bush and Rico Roy Walton are accused of being in possession of a Colt .45 loaded with six rounds of ammunition and a Trabzon 9mm handgun.
