Cayman's popular Pirates Week remains on the calendar for November, but on a smaller scale than usual, festival general manager Melanie McField has confirmed.

The Court of Appeal ruled earlier this month that Brandon Reno Liberal will receive no reduction in his five-year prison sentence for burgling Treasure Island Resort in the early hours of Sunday, May 6, 2012.

Pirates will be returning to Cayman’s shores once again this November. This year, they are not after your gold doubloons or priceless jewels, they are here for a different bounty – plastic.

The annual Pirates Week festival, held in Cayman since 1977, is getting a face-lift as it marks its 40th iteration this year.

The Pirates Week Charity Golf Classic is scheduled for Oct. 28 at the North Sound Golf Club, and golfers of all levels are invited to take part. “Pirates Week [Nov. 10-20] is about bringing people together in different ways,” said Pirates Week Executive Director Melanie McField.
