With just under 11 weeks to go, organizers of the Cingular Wireless Cayman Islands Marathon have announced Texaco as the presenting sponsor of the race, which takes place on Sunday, 6 March 2005.
Texaco’s support this year builds upon their sponsorship from the past two marathons, when the company provided the start and finish line signage.
Significantly more funding for the 2005 race has made them a major sponsor.
‘We are thrilled at Texaco’s decision to support the Cayman Islands Marathon once again,’ said race organiser Rhonda Kelly of Kelly Holding Ltd.
‘Their sponsorship will help us to more heavily promote the race, both locally and internationally, and enhance the race experience for our runners.’
‘Texaco is proud to be a major sponsor of the Cingular Wireless Cayman Islands Marathon which benefits the Cayman Islands Cadet Corps, a very worthy cause,’ remarked Sarah Goring, Texaco’s Retail Business Consultant.
‘We are committed to the development of our nation’s youth and the rebuilding of our community, and we believe that in these particularly trying times an event such as this presents an opportunity to refocus on what is important to the future of this island, the education and training of our youth and the revitalization of the tourism product.
‘The Marathon will definitely play a part in accomplishing these two goals. The Cingular Wireless Cayman Islands Marathon presented by Texaco is expected to attract hundreds of overseas runners. Participants can run the Marathon, walk or run the half-marathon or run the four-person relay.
