Wristbands for breast cancer

The Cayman Islands Cancer Society has received a shipment of the breast cancer awareness wristbands developed by Target, the United States retailer.

The Cancer Society has purchased these bands from Target and those funds have benefited the Breast Cancer Research Foundation in the United States.

The mission of the BCRF is ‘to achieve prevention and a cure for breast cancer in our lifetime by providing critical funding for innovative clinical and genetic research at leading medical centers worldwide, and increasing public awareness about good breast health’

Christine Sanders, Education and Office Manager of the Society says that she has had many requests at the Society for the bands. The Society therefore decided to purchase the bands and sell them as a fundraiser for their programs locally. The bands are pink and are imprinted with the words ‘Share Beauty. Spread Hope’ which is the catchword of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

In addition to the pink bands, the Society has also purchased and received a new shipment of the yellow LIVESTRONG bands from the Lance Armstrong Foundation which promotes cancer awareness.

Both bands are being sold for CI$2 at the Cancer Society office on Maple Road. Call Christine Sanders at 949-7618 for more information.
