The Red Cross Thrift Shop celebrated its re-opening after being hit hard by Hurricane Ivan with a massive sale Saturday.
After months of extensive refurbishment, the Thrift Shop at the Red Cross headquarters on Thomas Russell Way in George Town, had on sale a huge amount of items donated from various companies and individuals.
At the shop, bargain hunters cashed in on a number of items such as baby and adult clothes, shoes, cosmetics, books, knickknacks, electronics furniture and household goods.
Persons visiting the sale also enjoyed an early morning breakfast and lunch, which was on sale for a good price.
‘The sale was very successful and exceeded our expectations. We were very delighted with the huge turn-out,’ said Thrift Shop manager, Carry Phacker.
About 400 people turned up for the sale from as early as 6 am to cash in on the many items, she said.
The Thrift Shop is open Tuesday to Friday 9am-2pm, Saturdays 9am-3pm and is closed Mondays and Sundays.
