Playing dirty politics

The three UDP candidates for the District of Bodden Town, express disappointment at the recent defacement of their campaign signs in Breakers as reported in the Caymanian Compass.

In fact, while this was the only one reported in the newspaper, several other signs were also defaced throughout Bodden Town.

Candidates, Mark Scotland, Gilbert Mclean and Roy Bodden wish to remind the public that such acts of vandalism are punishable as criminal offenses.

Speaking on behalf of the Bodden Town UDP, Minister Mclean, Minister Bodden and Mr Scotland had the following statement to make.

We (the three UDP Candidates for Bodden Town), while shocked and dismayed by the recent act of vandalism, wish to urge all individuals to not abuse the freedom of expression we all benefit from in Cayman. We cannot condone any action that encroaches on the rights and property of any individual, and we encourage not just our supporters but everyone to please respect the laws and rights of our citizens. We have always, and intend to continue, to run a clean campaign in Bodden Town, and we encourage everyone especially our supporters to follow suit. We are in the midst of a political battle, but at the end of the day, we are all Bodden Towners, and we must ensure that we continue to work together in the best interests of the district and the Cayman Islands, and that we continue to respect each other now and after the elections.
