Digicel, POs hook up

In another first in innovative services among local telecom providers, Digicel has joined forces with the Cayman Islands Post Office to offer its Flex E Card e-top up service in all post offices.

The service was launched at the George Town Post Office 3 May, with the participation of Planning, Communications, District Administration, and Information Technology Mrs. Julianna O’Connor Connolly, Postmaster General, Mrs. Sheena Glasgow and staff of the post office, Digicel’s CEO, Mr. JD Buckley and Mr. Steve Scott of Telecom Solutions.

The service was immediately available in 14 of the 15 postal centres across the Cayman Islands.

The e-top up service in post offices adds to the Digicel’s top-up service available at all Butterfield Bank ATMs for debit cardholders of Butterfield Bank, ScotiaBank, Cayman National, Fidelity and First Caribbean Bank, in addition to over 125 locations where FLEXcards are sold.

The service has also been expanded to include an e top-up denomination of $5, in addition to the $10, $25 and $50 options previously available.

Commenting on Digicel’s enthusiasm and persistence in making the service available to postal customers, Mrs. O’Connor Connolly noted that the company had taken a proactive approach to customer satisfaction and had worked with the Ministry and the post office to ensure all systems were in place for the new service. She also expressed her appreciation that the service was also made available in the Sister Islands.

‘Digicel is pleased to join with the postal services in providing our customers with another convenient way to add credit to their mobile phones. We view this as an important part of our commitment to make our service accessible and convenient for everyone,’ Mr. Buckley stated.

He commended the Ministry and the staff of the Postal Services for their vision in facilitating the setting up of the service in post offices. ‘The availability of e-top up at post offices will provide another important service to postal customers, while making it easier for busy people to stay in touch,’ he said.

Promising more e top up options from Digicel in the future, Mr. Buckley noted that the company is focused on providing mobile customers with new products and value-added services to improve their mobile communication.

‘Already our customers have benefited from several innovations including pre-paid roaming and rollover minutes in our first year of service and we intend to continue to offer the widest range of new products and services to satisfy all their mobile needs,’ Mr. Buckley said.

In addition to the post offices, e-top up is now available in all Digicel dealer store locations.
