Parrots flew by the competition to win the Red Bay Primary School Sports Day for a second consecutive year, at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex on Friday.
Parrots, in red, dominated the day, winning by 29 points over the Stingrays, who had accumulated 365.5 points; Iguanas came third with 364.
For the past nine years Iguanas (green) have garnered the most trophies. However, this year’s win has the Parrots tied with the Iguanas – with four wins each. Stingrays (blue) have won one.
Ashleigh Nalty secured the Champion Girl trophy with 21 points. Nalty won the 100m and 200m sprints and took second in the 800m race. Jorel Bellafonte emerged as the Champion Boy, with 24 points after winning all three races – 100m, 200m and 800m.
There were also obstacle races, such as bag races, and a competition involving water-filled balloons, where the winner was the pair who managed to throw and catch the most balloons without bursting them. Other sports day highlights were Romario Campbell, who placed second in the 80m and 60m races for the Iguanas, and Maxwell Thomas placed second in the 100m race.
