Camps help fill summer days

With summer holidays just around the corner, sport could be the answer to the problem of finding something for the kids to do to stop them getting bored.

This year’s summer sports camps offer a wide range of sports for children of all ages.

And all levels of ability, from beginners upward, are catered for in the camps which run throughout July and August.

The summer sports camps on offer are as follows.

Cricket camp (held by CICA in conjunction with the Youth and Sports Department); venue, Smith Road Oval; time: 8:30am to 1pm: July 18-22, age nine to 12; July 25-29, ages 12+.

Netball camp (held by the Youth and Sports Department); venue, Truman Bodden Sports Complex netball courts; time: 8:30am to 1pm, July 11-15, ages nine to 16.

Basketball camp (held by CIBA in conjunction with the Youth and Sports Department); venue, Basketball court beside Cox Lumber; time 8:30am to 1pm, July 25 to 29, ages 12 to 16.

Swimming camp (held by the Youth and Sports Department); venue, Lions Pool, ages four to 17, time: 9am to 11am, July 18 to 22, July 25 to 29; 9am to 10am swim school (beginner’s lesson), 10am to 11am (advanced stroke skills).

Track and Field camp (held by the Youth and Sports Department; venue, Truman Bodden Sports Complex; time, 9am to 12pm, August 24 to 27, ages 10-16.

Football camps (held by the Youth and Sports Department); time; 9am to 1pm, ages seven to 17. West Bay: August 1 to 5 at the John A. Cumber School Field. East End: August 1 to 5 at the East End Civic Centre Field. Bodden Town: August 8 to 12 at the Bodden Town Youth Field. FC International/George Town: August 15 to 19 at the Annex Field. FC International/North Side: August 22 to 26 at the North Side Football Field. Ladies Camp: August 22 to 26 at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex.
