Cayman can expect wind, rain

The Cayman Islands can expect winds and rain from Tropical Storm Dennis as it makes its way west-northwest to Jamaica and the Caymans.

The storm should begin dumping rain on the Cayman Islands late tomorrow afternoon or tomorrow night. The storm is expected to be a Category 1 Hurricane when it reaches the Caymans.

Dennis is expected to travel 40 miles north of Cayman Brac where people there will experience winds of near-hurricane strength of 70 miles an hour or less.

On Grand Cayman, heavy beach erosion is expected for the western area of the island, specifically Seven Mile Beach.

The Cayman Islands, which remains under a Hurricane Watch, can expect two to three inches of rainfall from the storm.

Both Jamaica and Haiti are under a Hurricane Warning.
