Leader of Government Business Kurt Tibbetts and Minister Arden McLean crossed the floor of the House on Thursday.
But Mr Tibbetts was quick to point out they were not intending to switch sides and join the ranks of the opposition.
Because the government side of the Legislative Assembly was full with potential witnesses, from various departments, waiting to be quizzed by Finance Committee members, the two ministers were forced to cross the floor to find somewhere to sit.
In a light-hearted exchange, they were welcomed by opposition members, but Mr. Tibbetts said there should be no mistake about what was happening.
It was just a case of needing more room, he told the committee.
