Guard coast

The time has come when serious consideration must be given for the Cayman Islands to have their own Coast Guard or Royal Navy and Royal Marines Detachment permanently stationed here. Why you may ask?

For Cayman to play a bigger part in the region in reducing the supply of illegal drugs, arms and people, because of the possible terror threats to shipping in the region and to act as a search and rescue resource for the area.

A permanent base would also produce civilian jobs and an opportunity for Cayman’s young men and woman joining the Royal Navy and playing an important role in the protection of the Cayman Islands.

As the saying goes ‘she was founded upon the seas’, so why not take the next step and say ‘she was protected upon the seas’.
