Police arrest 3 in ganja haul

Three men have been arrested in connection with the discovery of 510 lbs of ganja in Cayman Brac.

Police said the three Jamaican nationals, aged 34, 47 and 53, were arrested at 4am on the south side of the island after a canoe washed up on the shore sometime after 1am.

A pair of jeans with $J3,000 in the pocket, a trainer shoe and two life vests found on the iron shore led police to mount an investigation on Tuesday.

Police attended the scene near Watering Place and found no one to whom the things might belong.

But after a search of the area they did recover 14 sacks of ganja weighing 510 lbs.

The RCIP and Customs Department is dealing with the investigation.
