Esso hands over Yamaha wave runners

Taron Smith and Tara Whittaker are the lucky winners of two Yamaha XL700 wave runners which were up for grabs in Esso’s Ride On promotion that took place over the holiday season.

The two Esso customers were ecstatic upon hearing the news. ‘I’ve never won anything before!’ exclaimed Tara, whose winning entry was completed at David’s Esso on Crewe Road.

She plans to make good use of her prize, and in fact had planned to buy a new wave runner after having to sell the one she had.

Taron was equally excited, and said that he entered the contest about 50 times.

‘My truck takes a lot of gas,’ he explained. Taron’s winning entry was completed at Hell Esso in West Bay.

‘This was definitely one of the most popular Esso promotions there has been; the response from the motoring public was amazing with more than 18,000 entries over the six-week promotional period,’ Esso Country Manager Alan Neesome said in a press release.

‘Wave-runners are such great fun to ride. They make ideal prizes for families to enjoy the waters around Cayman, and so everyone wanted a chance to win one.’

In addition, the forecourt employees at the participating Esso stations helped to drive the wave-runner competition as they also had a chance to win something as well.

Every Friday over the six-week promotion each employee had the chance to win $100 if their name was on a randomly drawn customer entry form.

‘This proved a great incentive for them to enhance forecourt service to the customer and promote the raffle with a lot of enthusiasm,’ said Mr. Neesome.

Customers who spent $25 or more in the purchase of fuels were eligible to enter the promotion.
