The Mathematics Association is hosting activities for both parents and teachers next week.
The two special conferences will feature expert mathematician Dr. Peter Kloosterman, associate dean of mathematics education at Indiana University.
The first event, to be held at 4:30pm Monday, 13 February at Prospect Primary School Hall, is for teachers. Titled Motivation in Mathematics: A Teacher’s Perspective, it is designed to show teachers how to better motivate students to be excited about mathematics, and encourage them to learn the subject. There is a fee of $25.
Parents will benefit from the second conference, which will take place at 6pm Tuesday, 14 February, at George Hicks High School.
The theme is Stimulate Your Child’s Interest in Maths. There is a $10 admission fee, and parents of students of all ages – from primary school through college level – are encouraged to attend.
