A new business staffing plan application form is now available on the Immigration Department’s website, www.gov.ky/immigration, for use by business owners, managers and human resources department staff.
The Immigration Law, 2003, mandates that all businesses employing 15 or more work-permit holders should operate with a business staffing plan that is approved by the Business Staffing Plan Board. The BSP application is used to provide information to the board.
The new form features one new section and eliminates duplicated questions, said a GIS press release.
It also provides clearer guidance for parts 2-6, and for questions in parts 1 and 7.
‘Our members are committed to ensuring that people who use the BSP application are given the best assistance and information possible,’ Deputy Chairman Mario Ebanks said in the release.
‘In order to efficiently process BSP applications, while also being sensitive to the aspirations of Caymanians, the board requires consistently defined information. The new form clarifies many of the areas which have caused confusion in the past.’
The Board is hopeful that the guidance provided in the new form will make the application process quicker and smoother, thus encouraging more businesses to be proactive in filing, he added.
The development of the new BSP form included consultation within the Board and Immigration Department, as well as with the private sector through the Chamber of Commerce Council of Associations.
The Business Staffing Plan Board meets on Wednesdays, and is chaired by Mrs. Sophia Harris.
