Red hot talent contest crowns Valentines

The contestants were all winners at the John Gray High School Valentine Talent Competition but only two would wear the title and crown of Mr. and Miss Valentine.

Dazzling Marcia Borden was crowned Miss Valentine and suave Roberto Seymour chosen Mr. Valentine amid squeals, shouts, hoots and whistles last night in the assembly hall.

Hundreds of students attended the Valentine talent competition to pick their favourite from the 11 contestants – eight girls and three boys.

Competing for the top title were JGHS students Denisha Drackett, Jessica Jackson, Samantha Pars, Bethany Ebanks, Marcia Borden, Jerray Brown, Kenisha Zelaya, Audrianna Rankin, Rayvon Rankin, Roberto Seymour and Oscar Calidonio.

Miss Valentine Marcia Borden won the Best Talent title with her monologue and Kenisha Zelaya Best in Gown title. Roberto Seymour, Mr. Valentine, won the Best in Tuxedo title.

Contestants attired in hip-hop clothing, sports, casual and evening wear, were judged on aptitude and poise by judges -teacher Turner, Wildman, Harvey and businessman Bernie Bush.

Also making an appearance at the event was Miss Teen 2006 Kamala Murugesu, Miss Valentine 2004 Patricia Plummer along with entertainers Natasha Mowbray, the group CBR, dancers Pierre Fletcher, Davian Smith, Tristan Thompson, Own Prehay, Jason Wilson, Darrel Lashley, Kieron Camm, DJ Vaughn of Vibe, Shari Espeut and Emcees Divinie Bush and Mrs. James-Smith.

The show co-ordinated by P. Forbes, S. Forde and E. Kerr was presented by the Business Education and Management Club.
