Rooster Shootout next weekend

The 3rd Annual Rooster Shootout Fishing tournament will take place 10-12 March.

Registration is Wednesday, 8 March, from 6pm-8pm at Royal Palms.

Registration for the event will take place at Royal Palms on Seven Mile Beach on Grand Cayman and Divi Tiara on Cayman Brac.

The weigh station for Grand Cayman will be at the Cayman Islands Yacht Club and will be open from 4pm-6pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The Rooster Shootout has partnered with Meals on Wheels to raise proceeds for the programme that provides thousands of meals to residents each year.

Donations for Meals on Wheels will be accepted at all Rooster Shootout events and at the Rooster 101 studios in the Crighton Building on Crewe Road.

DHL Worldwide Express has come on board as a major supporter of the Rooster Shootout Fishing Tournament this year as well.

Steve Garside says, ‘DHL has had a presence on the Cayman Islands for almost 15 years and throughout this time has always supported the local community as much as possible. We are very proud to be the official sponsors of the 2006 Rooster Shootout and even more proud of being involved with the charity Meals on Wheels, which gives so much to the people of Cayman. We look forward to many more years of providing an excellent service to the business community and residents of all three Cayman Islands.’

Prizes for the Rooster Shootout are as follows: Anglers catching above the Cayman Islands Record for Wahoo (105 lbs 10 oz), Yellow Fin Tuna (189 lbs 4 oz) and Dolphin (58 lbs and 8 oz) would gain a prize of CI$25,000 per record broken.

Additional prizes include $3,000 each for the heaviest Wahoo, Yellow Fin Tuna, and Dolphin below the record breakers, 2nd place will be awarded $1,500 each and 3rd place will receive $500 per category.
