The Mosquito Research and Control Unit began its pre-season residual insecticide campaign in the George Town area on Monday. The spraying campaign will take the MRCU crews into other districts in the coming weeks, said a GIS press release.
MRCU crews will be working on foot in people’s yards to spray insecticide in order to reduce the numbers of mosquitoes in the area. Residents can identify MRCU crews by their personal protective suits and the spray equipment they carry. Crews will also be driving vehicles that display a government crest.
The release noted the insecticide chemicals are carefully applied by trained MRCU officers and pose no danger to people or pets.
