Crash claims second victim

Saturday’s fatal car and truck collision on Shamrock Road, in which an 18-year-old girl died, has now claimed another victim.

Angelo Luciano, 22, of Windsor Park had been in the back of the truck when the collision occurred.

The Filipino national was taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital but died on Monday afternoon, said the RCIP.

A 34-year-old man, who was also in the back of the truck, remained in hospital recovering from his injuries.

The accident happened at around 7.45am on Saturday, near the Stingray Brewery.

All three emergency services attended and found there had been a collision between a Honda Integra and a flat bed pick-up truck.

Iliana De La Cruz, a passenger in the Honda, was pronounced dead at the scene, said the police.

The driver, a 20-year-old man, sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment in Miami, where his condition is said to be critical.

The 36-year-old driver of the pick-up suffered bruising and cuts and was treated in hospital. His 48-year-old passenger was unhurt.

Police are appealing for witnesses to contact PC Boxwell on 946-6254.
