Flowers Bottled Water to sponsor CI Marathon

Flowers Bottled Water has confirmed its support once again for the 2006 Cayman Islands Marathon which will be held on Sunday, 3 December, making this the company’s 3rd year as a partner with the race organizers.

‘We are thrilled to have Sandy and her team at Flowers on board with us again for yet another year,’ said Rhonda Kelly, of Kelly Holding Ltd., Marathon Race Director. ‘She has been with us since we took over the race and she is an essential partner. We literally could not do this race without her and the water she provides for our runners. Not only does she supply the water, but she also gives us support on race day too with a Flowers vehicle and driver, Milton, who drives the race route replenishing the water stops with water. We cannot thank her enough for Flowers’ sponsorship.’

‘We are proud to be associated with this great event,’ said Sandy of Flowers’ decision to sponsor. ‘It is well organized; it encourages the community to get out there and get fit; and it is in aid of two great charities. We are pleased to know that the organizers picked Flowers, clearly the best value and definitely the cooler water.’

Some of the Flowers team will also be out on race day to actually participate.

‘I think a lot of people don’t realise that you can walk the 13 miles if you’re not a runner,’ says Dara Flowers. ‘A few of us here in the office are going to walk it, and I’d like to invite other walkers to join us.’

Rhonda says that walkers can easily take part in the half-marathon because the course is open for the duration of the marathon. ‘You can go at your own pace and there will be water and Gatorade along the way the entire time.’

Proceeds from this year’s race will go to the Cayman Islands Cadet Corps, the beneficiary for the past four years, and the Cayman Islands Cancer Society, a newly formed partnership. Online registration complete with early registration discounts are now available at www.CaymanIslandsMarathon.com for the marathon (26.2 miles), half-marathon (13.1 miles) and the 4-person relay.

The 2006 Cayman Islands Marathon is sponsored by the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism; Breezes By The Bay Restaurant (Official Marathon Party Zone); Kiss 106.1 FM (Official Radio Station); the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort (Official Hotel); CUC; Re-Max; Butterfield Bank; KPMG and Final Touch.
