Cayman track news

At Rice University, Omar Wright was victorious in the high jump with a successful effort at 2.10 meters/6’10 3/4′, which was good enough to earn him an entry in the regional championships at Texas next month.Wright, who holds the Cayman national record at 2.11 meters, then took three unsuccessful attempts at 2.15 meters/7′ 1/2′ in a bid for another new national record and a shot at becoming Cayman’s first seven-foot leaper.

He could possibly achieve that goal in the Texas Relays this week.

Florida International University traveled to the University of Florida to take part in the Diet Pepsi Classic, and Ronald Forbes barely missed a regional qualifying mark of his own in the 110 meter hurdles with a 14.32 effort, a mere .02 off the standard. Michael Letterlough also had some good throws in the first college outdoor meet of the season for the two Golden Panthers.
