With the recent completion of its mission statement and plan of action, the Bodden Town Action Committee has been gearing up to tackle the first item on its agenda – cleaning up the beach.

Thanks to Heather Bodden, Chairperson of the Grand Cayman Beautification Committee, Bodden Town received funds to help with this effort. Piles of coral, rocks and building debris have been separated in preparation for pick-up and removal.

Additional help has been forthcoming from Tourism Minister Charles Clifford and Arden McLean, Minister of Communications, Works and Infrastructure, in the loan of a backhoe and truck to pick up and haul away the piles on the beach, as well as much larger chunks of debris.

In conjunction with these government-supported efforts, the BTAC has organized a community beach clean-up for this Saturday, 22 April.

Bodden Towners will be participating in Earth Day’s island-wide cleanup by picking up the trash along the town’s beach, stretching from the cemetery to the end of Manse Road.
