A district family fun day for George Town is set for this Saturday as part of Child Month activities.
The festivities will be held at Airport Park from 10am to 4 p.m.
It’s among a series of events being planned by the Department of Children and Family Services during May which include church services, parties, family workshops and a walkathon on Discovery Day Monday, said a GIS press release.
This year’s activities focus on the theme, Childhood: The Time of Your Life. The events are designed to encourage both children and parents to tap into the child within.
The Eastern Districts will be the focus of attention the following Saturday, 13 May with a family fun day celebration scheduled to be held at George Dixon Park in East End from 10am to 4pm.
On Monday morning, 15 May, a family walkathon will be held. The event, titled Children, Parents and Pets, promises to be a fun, prize-filled family experience.
The first 200 participants will receive a free T-shirt and a prize of $500 will be given to the school with the most attendees.
Registration starts at 6.30am at The Links at Safe Haven on West Bay Road.
The district fun days will continue on Saturday, 20 May, in West Bay. The district’s activities will take place at the Scholar’s Park from 10am to 4pm.
A Children’s Expo – a new addition to Child Month – is scheduled for Saturday, 27 May.
The expo will showcase children’s interests ranging from performing arts to enhanced methods of technological learning.
