Primary School Basketball reached a climax this past Saturday as the two leading teams – Red Bay Primary and First Baptist Christian School – had their inevitable face off!
The game was high paced and both teams came out with tremendous energy! First Baptist drew first blood but Red Bay soon countered. For 3 quarters both teams practically traded baskets. Red Bay went to their strength – pressuring the ball – while First Baptist used theirs – penetrating to the basket. In the end it was the combination of Jarrett Powell, Kira Scott and Jenifer Mosely that would provide 90% of FBCS’ scoring. Powell put on an offensive show for the crowds that even left the Red Bay primary school Coach Shomari Scott with his mouth open.
Powell led the team with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals while Mosely added 6 points and 4 rebounds; Scott also added 6 points, 2 assists and 3 rebounds;
Red Bay fought valiantly to the end and were led by Jorel Belafonte’s 4 points, 7 steals and 2 rebounds; Brandon Thompson and Juwan Ebanks had great rebounding games with 6 each and Sharon Woodman poured in 8 points. The final score was 32 – 20.
