Two lucky visitors will win a trip to Cayman for Pirates Week 2006.
The expense paid trip for two is the prize in a drawing organized by the Pirates Week Administration and the Department of Tourism and will be an annual affair.
The winning pair get accommodation for five days and four nights courtesy of the Westin Casaurina Resort & Spa.
They will fly in from a Cayman Airways gateway courtesy of the national carrier.
Once in Cayman they will be able to fully enjoy Pirates Week with $400 of spending money, a free rental car from Budget Rent A Car, $100 worth of costumes from the Pirates Week shop, lunch on the house at Breezes Restaurant and two bottles of rum from Tortuga Rum Company.
They will also be right in the middle of the action on board one of the invading ships when the pirates land in George Town on Saturday, 11 November.
The two prize winners will also get a chance to enjoy other aspects of Cayman.
When not taking in Pirates Week activities they will have free passes to the Botanic Park, Pedro St. James, Boatswain’s Beach and Sting Ray City.
The draw is exclusive to patrons of the Pirates Week shop, which is visited by hundreds of cruise ship passengers and stay over tourists each week.
Pirates Week Executive Director Dave Martins explained that the drawing is a marketing tool.
Mr. Martins said that people who visit the Pirates Week shop are either specifically interested in the Pirates Week Festival or the piracy theme so when they register for the draw this will give the Department of Tourism a database of a target audience to which DoT can directly market the festival and the Cayman Islands in general.
The drawing will take place in September. Pirates Week takes place November 9 -19 this year. The full schedule is available on the Pirates Week website at www.piratesweekfestival.com.
