Athlete to talk about Jesus in Cayman

Youth for Christ has invited college basketball player Tim Lewis to be a part of Youth SummerFest 2006. Lewis plays for Montreat College, in North Carolina. Prior to college Tim made some ‘unwise decisions’, and at the age of 17 came to a difficult crossroad in his life, according to a press release.

‘He made a decision to turn his life around,’ states the release. ‘He received Jesus Christ as his Lord as Saviour. Tim began to apply himself; received his GED, and took courses at a local community college.’

Through a church league basketball team, Tim was referred to the basketball coach at Montreat College, which later allowed him the opportunity to try out for the team. After taking the SAT test, his scores were high enough to get him into a 4-year college. Tim also earned a full scholarship to plays basketball as well. He recently received the Champion of Character award for his team’s conference division, and was named to the all-academic, all-conference, and defensive teams. At the conclusion to the past basketball season Tim said ‘After six months of basketball, I now have more time to spend building my relationship with the Lord, and serving him in ways I normally cannot during basketball season.’

Lewis will speak at the Youth SummerFest 06, Saturday, July 15, at the West Bay playing field from 5-9pm. There will also be food, and games.
