Police recovered around 150lbs of ganja and arrested one man for various drugs offences following a joint operation Wednesday.
The drugs were recovered from an area off Duxies Lane by officers from West Bay and the Drugs Task Force as part of an ongoing operation to stamp out drug use, said an RCIPS press release.
A 23-year-old man from the West Bay area was arrested Thursday on suspicion of possession of ganja with intent to supply and is in police custody.
Area Commander Chief Inspector Richard Simms said: ‘This is excellent work by these officers and their actions will certainly be hurting those involved with these drugs. We are determined to make the Cayman Islands a drug free community and we will continue to pursue those involved in the supply and consumption of illegal substances.’
Anyone with information about crime taking place in the Cayman Islands should contact their local police station or Crime Stoppers on 800-8477 (TIPS). All persons calling crime stoppers remain anonymous, and are eligible for a reward of up to $1,000, should their information lead to an arrest or recovery of property/drugs.
