Cayman’s restored Bodden Town Mission House will decorate the cover of this year’s Cayman Islands National Trust Christmas cards.
Titled Christmas at the Mission House the card celebrates the re-opening of this old home.
The cards are CI$10 for a pack of 10 cards for members and CI$11 for non-members.
The cards portray a traditional Caymanian feel of the season and were created by Debbie van der Bol.
The Caymanian home was originally a wattle and daub one storey building most likely constructed during the early 1830s.
Eventually a second floor constructed of shiplap wood was added and topped with wooden shingles.
The home has close ties to the early missionaries in Bodden Town and was the home of not only the Rev. Redpath of the Presbyterian Church but also the Lyons and Watler families as well. It was destroyed in 2004 during Hurricane Ivan.
Plans are in motion to open the Mission House in mid- December.
