Pirates Week 10K

The Pirates Week 10K race will be hitting the West Bay Road this year with a new sponsor, the usual age groups, and the usual 7am start on Sunday 19 November at the Governor’s Beach entrance. The race, now in its 4th year, has been growing in popularity and drew 125 participants last year.

Ken Krys, Managing Partner of RSM Cayman Islands, sponsor of the race this year, said his company was keen to support an event which reflects the diversity that the Festival has become known for. Said Mr. Krys: ‘We’re proud to sponsor an event that amplifies the Caymanian spirit, while giving all residents and visitors to the Islands an opportunity to have some fun.’

Runners will receive awards in Male and Female categories as follows: Overall; U19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60+. The entry fee is $25, residents and visitors are eligible. Registration for the race will take place at the Marriott Courtyard Hotel from noon to 5pm on Saturday 18 November. Race organiser Jerry Harper is reminding runners that there will be no race-day registration for the event.

The race begins at 7am at the Governor’s Beach Entrance on West Bay, proceeds north to Town Hall Road, to Hell Road, turns around at Devil’s Hangout, and returns to finish at the Marriott Courtyard. Water stops will be provided along the way by Evian.

The awards ceremony and a post-race breakfast will take place at the Marriott Courtyard.
