Cayman cricket back on track

There is always a first time for every thing. Cayman Brac will host its first national cricket semi final on Saturday 28th October when the Cayman Brac cricket team plays MONEY EXPRESS Division 2 league winners Welly’s ICC. Stanford Mitchum Chairman of the Cayman Brac Sports Association was extremely pleased with the CICA initiative. He feels that the excitement will hit fever pitch as the Cayman Brac community gets to see first hand its heroes displaying their talents in this much anticipated semi final.

With a steady combination led by Wayne Taylor, Cayman Brac performed creditably in the league having some close encounters with leaders Welly’s ICC and West Bay. The team will be depending heavily on front line batsmen James Reid, Hetram Sohan, Sahadeo Sohan, Steve Coates and Taylor to put the runs on the board. The bowling will be led by Robert Levy with support coming from Steve Coates, James Reid and Desrick Dawson.

Welly’s ICC is taking this match very seriously as they attempt to score the double having secured the League early this year. Led by Harcourt Wason, Welly’s will be looking for big runs from the captain, Kirkpatrick Clarke, Perry George, Alister Carter and Gerard Christian while their bowling department will rely on Allan Plowright, Cleviston Hunte and Elvis Coward.

In the other semi final, seasoned campaigners West Bay will play Cable & Wireless Schools. This match is scheduled for Smith Road Oval also on Saturday beginning at 12.00pm.

The winners earn the right to contest the final scheduled for Saturday November 5th at the Smith Road Oval.
