Paintings from a long hot summer

The intense heat and humidity of the summer has inspired artist Avril Ward to create a magnificent brand new series of no less than 17 oil paintings called ‘Long hot summer’ to be exhibited at Grand Old House from 12 December until 12 January 2007. Exhibition opening is 6pm and all are welcome.

Focusing on her own two dogs, and other neighbouring dogs, as they play on the beach opposite to her Bodden Town home, as well as everyday people from the Caribbean, Avril has brought to life the heat and humidity of a Cayman summer, in a unique and contemporary way, using thickly applied oils, searingly intense colours and shimmering, silvery effects.

This highly commercial series will be available for purchase at show special prices and for the first time, Avril will also be offering giclee prints on canvas of the series.

Avril says, ‘They will be a limited edition prints, artist signed, hand finished and available either stretched or unstretched.’
