Office closing

Lands and Survey Department will close at noon Monday for a staff Christmas function.

The public counter will be open 10am until noon and the general reception will be open 8.30am-noon.

Approval required

Fire Service officials remind everyone that all public displays of fireworks during this Christmas season must be pre-approved by the department because it is a Fire Code requirement.

All applications must include copies of liability insurance documents, and itemised lists of what type and quantity of fireworks will be displayed.

Applications can be dropped off at the Central Fire Station, next to the Owen Roberts International Airport, or faxed to 949-0268, attention Doorly McLaughlin. All applications should be submitted to the Fire Department at least 72 hours before the event occurs.

DEH notice

The Department of Environmental Health in the Sister Islands will be closed for business Tuesday from 1pm for a staff function.

The office will re-open Wednesday at 8.30am.

The Department of Environmental Health in George Town will be closed for business Friday from 1pm.

However, the 24 hour drop-off facility at the landfill will remain open.

Regular business hours will resume on Monday at 8.30am.

CMI closing

The Cayman Islands Monetary Authority advises the public of the following hours of operation over the Christmas and New Year season:

Thursday, 21 December – CIMA closes at 1pm for its annual Children’s Christmas party.

Friday, 22 December – Closes at 2pm for the Christmas holidays

Monday, 25 December (Christmas Day) – Closed

Tuesday, 26 December (Boxing Day) – Closed

Friday, 29 December – Closes at 1pm for the New Years holiday

Monday, 1 January 2007 (New Years Day) – Closed

The Authority will operate as normal, from 8.30am to 5pm on other weekdays.
