Interest growing in Cayman’s Cross Island Relay

With less than a week to go before race day, The Hash House Harriers are delighted with the response to this year’s race. So far over 20 teams have shown an interest.

Cross Island Relay

The popular Cross Island Relay is set for Sunday, 4 February.

The 33rd Cross Island Relay will take place on Sunday 4th February. This is one of the longest established sporting events in the Cayman Islands and runners of all abilities are encouraged to get together and form teams. The emphasis as always is on having a fun time.

The primary race sponsor this year is Admiral Administration Ltd.

The format of the run is a six person relay run with each leg being 4 miles. The race starts in East End and finishes this year at the George Hicks High School Playing field. The 6 legs are –

East End to the Blow Holes

Blow Holes to the Frank Sound Junction

Frank Sound Junction to the old Drive In Theatre at Bodden Town

Bodden Town to Savannah Acres

Savannah Acres to the Old Crew Road / South Sound Junction

South Sound Junction to the George Hicks High School field,

There will be water stops half way along each leg. All competitors will receive a race T shirt.The entry fee is CI$ 75 per team.

All sporting clubs, government departments and offices are encouraged to put a team together. Part of the fun is standing by the roadside to cheer your runner as he / she makes the lonely road to the finish of the leg.
