Man charged in Chisholm shop robbery

A man with a West Bay address has been charged with the 19 January robbery of Chisholm’s Supermarket in North Side.

Jarolle Lavert Edward, 26, appeared in Summary Court on Monday. He is charged with the robbery and with possession of an imitation firearm with intent to commit an offence. The imitation firearm was said to be a flare gun.

Details of the robbery allegation are that he stole $400 cash and a carton of Benson and Hedges cigarettes and, in order to do so, he used force against a named person.

Defence Attorney Keith Collins did not make any application for bail at this time, but did request a summary of facts and other papers in the matter.

Magistrate Nova Hall remanded Edward in custody at Northward Prison until his next mention date, Monday, 5 March.
