Elderly man foils robbers

Police have arrested a teenage boy and are looking for two other males in connection with an alleged attack on a 76-year-old man in Prospect last week.

The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service said the victim called 911 around 11.30pm Friday claiming he’d been attacked while he was out walking near Bamboo St. and Marina Dr.

The elderly victim told police he was walking to the shop when he was approached by three young men, and hit over the head twice.

The man said the suspects demanded money from him. He said he managed to fend them off with a flashlight he was carrying and that the offenders eventually ran off.

Police arrested the 17-year-old at his home in Prospect shortly after the incident.

Detectives would like to speak with anyone in the area around 11:30 Friday night and who might have seen three young men, particularly any who were accompanied by dogs. If you have information, contact DC Sheryl Stone at 925-9399.
