CAIN chairman focuses on membership drive

New members are needed

Cayman Angel Investors Network has a new chairman at its helm, whose first goal is to build the organisation’s membership.

‘More members are definitely needed and welcomed at this point to help keep up with the pace of applications we are receiving,’ said newly-elected CAIN Chairman Winston Connolly.

‘We have a variety of interesting and potentially rewarding proposals being offered to us on a weekly basis so anyone with an interest in investing in the economy of the Cayman Islands is welcome to apply for membership.’

According to a CAIN release, Mr. Connolly takes over from out-going chairman William Peguero.

In mentioning the various achievements during his predecessor’s tenure, Mr. Connolly spoke of the local Angel Investors Network such as the significant levels of interest in its first year of operation. By December 2006 CAIN had reviewed over 20 business proposals, and worked with five projects, offering advice and support to local entrepreneurs.

Other accomplishments for last year included the network’s first significant investment in a local small business (to be announced shortly) and the entrepreneur seminars held in May 2006.

The new chairman said the most rewarding aspect of being a CAIN member was being able to assist people with their dream of becoming a business owner, and giving them advice and guidance while witnessing business ideas go from concept to fruition.

The new CAIN board was elected at the network’s recent Annual General Meeting. The board now comprises: John White, deputy chairman; Peter Cunningham, secretary; and William Peguero, director.
