‘Jean-Michel always says that people protect what they love,’ said Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman Vice President and General Manager Jean Cohen. ‘The Ritz-Carlton is proud to sponsor an event with the sole purpose of raising resources to protect the oceans that the Cayman community loves so much.’

The mission of Ocean Futures Society is to explore our global ocean, inspiring and educating people throughout the world to act responsibly for its protection, documenting the critical connection between humanity and nature, and celebrating the ocean’s vital importance to the survival of all life on our planet. Cousteau has brought that mission to Cayman through his Ambassadors of the Environment family program at the Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman, states a press release.

Actor Paul Walker, best known for his roles in The Fast and the Furious and Into the Blue, will co-host the event. Mr. Walker is an avid supporter of Cousteau and the Ocean Futures Society mission. He is eager to experience Cousteau’s Ambassadors of the Environment program at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman.

Highlights of the evening will include a screening of never-before seen footage of Cousteau’s latest environmental expedition in the Amazon. Cayman’s own renowned underwater photographer Cathy Church will give a presentation of her work. A live auction will include premium offerings including a week at Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Fiji Island Resort, a two week cruise aboard Regent Seven Seas with JMC as your guest lecturer, a private dive with Jean-Michel Cousteau and the opportunity to join a Cousteau film expedition.

The event also marks an important milestone for the Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman: the opening of the Ambassadors of the Environment program to the public.

‘We’ve spent the past year refining our AOTE programs to give our hotel guests the best possible introduction to Cayman’s natural world and concepts of sustainable living,’ said Ms. Cohen. ‘We and Jean-Michel are so excited to make these programs available to everyone, including the local schools, all visitors to Cayman and island residents.’

Ticket cost is $125 per person or $1,200 for a table for ten. As The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman is sponsoring the event, 100 per cent of the ticket price goes directly to the Ocean Futures Society.
