Restaurant company in court

Caribbean Restaurant Ltd., trading as Ernesto’s, has been charged with employing a person without a work permit.

Attorney Steve McField appeared for the company in Summary Court Wednesday. Director of the company, Frank McField, was present.

Dr. Frank, a former Member of the Legislative Assembly and government minister, is not charged.

The company is charged with employing Ezekiel Castillo Lopez between 13 August and 8 September last year in contravention of a work permit condition. The condition was that Lopez was not to be employed by anyone other than the employer named in his permit without prior approval of the Immigration Board.

Lopez was charged with being engaged in gainful occupation at Ernesto’s without being authorised by a work permit granted under the Immigration Law.
