After spending 10 days on the loose, a pair of Cuban migrants finally turned themselves in at the George Town Immigration Detention Centre Sunday night.
Raul Cardoso Brinones and Olivia Irsula Batista were part of a group of migrants who fled the detention centre on 5 April. Most of the escapees were rounded up later that same day.
Acting Chief Immigration Officer Kerry Nixon had previously said she believed the couple that managed to avoid capture did so with help from outside the detention facility.
The 39-year-old Brinones and 24-year-old Batista were being interviewed by immigration officers Monday about their escape.
