Cayman Islands host Mr. & Ms. Universe Bodybuilding Championships

On April 28, 2007 the Cayman Islands will once again host the WNBF Pro Natural Mr. & Ms. Universe Bodybuilding and Figure Championships, in conjunction with the INBF Natural Caribbean Grand Prix Championship. These international championships are being held at the Lions Center on April 28, 2007. Prejudging will begin at 12.00 noon sharp and tickets cost $25.00. The event finals will begin at 7:00 p.m. and the cost of tickets is $25 pre-paid or $35.00 at the gate.

The championships are promoted annually by Eye of the Tiger Productions, with an aim of building awareness of the sport within the community and to expose local athletes to international competition and give them an opportunity to win pro cards. The championships also attract many first time visitors to the island and therefore aids in promoting sports tourism.

Event Promoter, Tiger Wilson, himself a WNBF Pro Mr. Universe Champion, said that throughout the four years since he has been promoting these championships, the Cayman Islands and its athletes have received great exposure in various international magazines including Natural Bodybuilding and Fitness (NB&F), Men’s Exercise and For Men Only, as well as on various web-sites.

The April 28 championships should prove to be very interesting because of the caliber of international athletes who are coming to Cayman to challenge some of our islands finest athletes.

It should be noted that the championships are endorsed by the National Drug Counsel (NDC) who, after closely scrutinizing and assisting with the drug testing procedures at last years’ event, were impressed with their findings. All INBF and WNBF competitors in the sport of natural bodybuilding are fully drug tested prior to each competition.

The promoters wish to thank their sponsors, PricewaterhouseCoopers, the Dept. of Tourism, Chris Johnson Associates and St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine and also Butterfield Bank for their kind donation.

Additional sponsors are still being sought and anyone who is interested in either becoming a sponsor or in making a donation towards the success of the event, are asked to call 916 5662, 916 5191 or e-mail: [email protected].

Tickets can be purchased from Health Care Pharmacy on Walkers Road and at Grand Harbour, West Bay Road Texaco and West Bay Pharmacy in Centennial Towers. Part proceeds from the event will be donated to the Boy Scouts and the Cancer Society.
