Hobbies & Books charged for no work permit

Hobbies and Books and owner William Herbert Adam appeared in Summary Court on Wednesday charged with employing someone without a work permit.

Defence Attorney James Stenning represented both the company and Mr. Adam. He said this was the first time the charges were before the court and he would need to get the papers in the case. Magistrate Nova Hall adjourned the matter until 28 May.

The company and the owner are charged with employing Gena Patricia Munoz between 13 December 2004 and 24 October 2006 without having been authorised by a work permit granted under the Immigration Law.

Munoz, a Honduran national, was charged with working without a permit. She pleaded guilty and her sentencing was set for 2 May. She did not have an attorney.
