I read in your newspaper that the Beach Club on Seven Mile Beach has been sold and will be torn down – are you guys serious?
It’s a landmark…it’s the only original thing left on that beach…it’s as much a treasure as the old courthouse (now a museum).
When I lived on the island a long time ago, the Beach Club and its amazing wooden bar overlooking the ocean right in the middle of the beach (the best spot) was a beautiful and unspoiled place with no neighbors. It should remain that way forever. Bringing it down would mean that greed would have finally won over all.
That piece of land should remain the way it is in order to show that Babylon cannot have it all.
If I was a businessman with lots of money I would buy and protect that place.
The Beach Club is what a Caribbean place should look like; pretty and colourful with the beach at your feet.
On the other hand, monstrous buildings like most other complexes around there shouldn’t have been built. I’m sure most local people don’t want any big time condominiums instead.
Will someone do something about this?
