Chamber presents Golden Apple Awards

Eight educators have received a Golden Apple Award from the Chamber of Commerce for dedication, professionalism and leadership.

The first award was for Primary School Teacher in a Private School and was presented to Ms Maria- Marie Kennedy from St. Ignatius Catholic School by Gold Sponsor Representative Mr. Tim Adam from Cable & Wireless.

Gold Sponsor DART Cayman Islands representative Mr. Hugh Treadwell, presented the Golden Apple Award for Primary School Teacher in a Public School to Mrs. Mary J. Smith from Red Bay Primary.

The Award for Middle School Teacher in a Private School went to Ms. Jewel Marie Meikle from Cayman Academy, presented by Gold Sponsor The Ritz-Carlton’s Mrs. Brenda Topping.

Mrs. June-Marie South-Robinson from Leading Edge High School, George Hicks Campus received the award for Middle School Teacher in a Public School from Mr. Rod McDowell of Red Sail Sports, one of the evening’s Gift Sponsors.

Mrs. Vera Kissoon from Gold Sponsor CLICO (Cayman) Ltd presented the Golden Apple for High School Teacher in a Private School to Mr. Jeffrey Newman from Triple C School.

The Golden Apple for High School Teacher in a Public School went to Mrs. Tania Chung-Harris from John Gray High School and was presented by Mrs. Alice Mae Coe from Walkers, Gold Sponsor for the evening.

Chamber President Ms. Angelyn Hernandez accepted the Golden Apple Award for Principal in a Private School on the behalf of Mr. DeWayne Joslin from Wesleyan Christian Academy who was not present.

Education Minister Alden McLaughlin presented the final award for the evening for Principal in a Public School to Ms Sharon Marie Martin from George Town Primary.
