Civil Servants back to work

Head of the Civil Service, George McCarthy, has called on all civil servants to report for duty as normal on Tuesday in the aftermath of Hurricane Dean.

Civil servants who evacuated off the island for Hurricane Dean are expected back to work no later than Thursday.

The Public Works Department advised all their senior staff to report to a staff meeting at 8 am Tuesday.

Due to staff deployments to the hurricane shelters and other areas for medical support, the Health Services Authority cancelled clinics on Tuesday. All elective surgeries are also cancelled Tuesday.

However, the Accident and Emergency Unit at the Cayman Islands Hospital will remain open 24 hours for medical emergencies.

The George Town General Practice Clinic will be opened between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. tomorrow for urgent care only.

Pharmacy and dialysis services will resume as normal tomorrow, Tuesday, August 21.

All other HSA services will resume as per normal schedule on Wednesday.
